Bitcoin Conference Attendance Down 50% due to Crypto Winter

• Bitcoin 2023, the world’s largest Bitcoin conference, is taking place in Miami Beach.
• The event will feature speakers including Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Michael Lewis, and Patrick McHenry.
• Attendance at this year’s event is expected to be approximately 15,000 – half of last year’s 35,000 due to crypto winter.

Bitcoin 2023 Conference

The third annual Bitcoin 2023 conference is taking place in Miami Beach this week. With a general admission ticket costing $999 and an “Industry Pass” with exclusive access going for $2,299, the conference promises to be the world’s largest gathering of bitcoin faithful.

Notable Speakers

Speakers at the event include U.S presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., author Michael Lewis, U.S Representative Patrick McHenry from North Carolina’s House Financial Services Committee and Vivek Ramaswamy (U.S Presidential candidate).

Crypto Winter Impact

Last year’s attendance was approximately 35,000 people; however this year it is expected that only 15,000 attendees will make an appearance – likely a result of the downturn known as “crypto winter” which has seen many firms slashing travel and marketing budgets over the past year.

CoinDesk Consensus 2023 Event

CoinDesk also saw its own Consensus 2023 event suffer from a decline in attendance last month; numbers dropped from around 20,000 to 15,000 people due to crypto winter conditions persisting throughout the industry.

Conference Overview

This week’s Bitcoin conference will feature over 180 talks and workshops on topics such as cryptocurrency regulation and decentralized finance (DeFi). The afterparty on Saturday night promises to be an exclusive affair with music by Grammy-winning artist Diplo and DJ Marshmello along with other special guests awaiting attendees at the end of their three-day journey into bitcoin culture and tech developments
